Priming Skin’s Natural Hyaluronic Acid Production

Hyaluronic acid (HA) levels naturally decrease with age, leading to a disorganization of collagen and elastin and a loss of skin hydration that can cause volume loss that results in the appearance of wrinkles.

Most popular treatments involve the injection of fillers meant to replace lost HA, yet they do nothing to restore the skin’s natural HA production. Another approach is microneedling, which uses small, minimally-invasive needles to repeatedly pierce the dermis, thus spurring the skin’s natural rebuilding process to generate HA and collagen to repair the skin. 

Exion® takes a different approach, utilizing both fractional RF (radio frequency waves) and ultrasound technology to create a needle-free microneedling treatment that is able to reach significantly deeper into the dermal layers without any damage to the skin.

How it Works

Exion® combines Monopolar RF and targeted ultrasound for simultaneous delivery that is controlled and regulated by an on-board AI, which streamlines and optimizes the process, allowing treatments to be completed in a single pass.

The RF needling gently heats the dermis, thermally stimulating fibroblasts, which are then mechanically stimulated by Exion’s targeted ultrasound.

This prompts the fibroblasts to produce HA, as well as collagen and elastin that freshen and tighten skin, easing scarring and wrinkles to restore a youthful look to skin.


Exion® is typically administered in 10-30 minute treatment sessions, and most patients find 4 sessions ideal for long-term results.

You may see some results immediately. However, the most noticeable effects will likely manifest over a couple of weeks with additional treatment sessions. Typically, Exion is administered in a course of 4 sessions.

Not really. Exion treatment may cause a warm and slightly prickly in treated areas. Patients are likely to experience only minimal discomfort during treatment, with most finding the experience comfortable, relaxing, and soothing. Unlike other microneedling treatments, Exion is needle-free.
